Manual Lymph Drainage

This treatment aims at stimulating the body’s lymphatic circulation.

The lymph plays a major role in our immune system which in turn is responsible for removing waste and aids the body’s defence. Our lifestyle can have an adverse effect on the body with us being exposed to environmental toxins, processed foods, stress and medication are just a few of the factors that can all be detrimental to our lymphatic system.

The Lymphatic treatment is a very gentle massage, with the focus being on the lymph areas or zone.

It is a very relaxing treatment that is pain free and can be performed on people of all ages and on people who are frail or in recovery from surgery.

Benefits are to reduce fluid held in the body and aid for a faster recover from surgery.

Treatment times will vary from 30-90 mins

Oncology Massage

Oncology Massage is a specialised form of therapeutic massage which involves gentle pressure techniques to improve quality of life for people with a diagnosis or history of cancer, at any stage of their journey from those in active treatment to those in recovery or survivorship.

Whilst this therapeutic massage does not treat cancer, it can alleviate the side effects caused by conventional treatments such as surgery radiation or chemotherapy.

Medical research also shows that the benefits of oncology massage goes on for days after the massage experience. The largest study being carried out by the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York. The study demonstrated that massage resulted in:
  • 47 per cent improvement in pain levels
  • 42 per cent improvement in fatigue levels
  • 59 percent improvement in anxiety
  • 51 per cent improvement in nausea
  • 48 per cent in reports of depression

With other symptoms such as dry mouth, shortness of breath, memory problems or disturbed sleep improving by 48 per cent.

Researchers concluded that "massage is a markedly effective, uncommonly non-invasive and inexpensive way to control symptoms for cancer patients”.

Treatment times will depend on each individuals' needs on the day and appointments will be saved for oncology clients to ensure they do not have to wait more than a week. Home/Hospice visits can be arranged but will incur a fee for travel, related to estimated time taken.

Remedial/Cupping Treatment

Remedial Massage is a Clinical approach to aid soft tissue repair or dysfunction.  This type of massage holistically treats the whole body and traces the discomfort as far as possible back to the original cause, healing both the cause of the disorder as well as the symptoms.

The consultation for Remedial treatment is detailed.  It will include static postural analysis, range of movement testing and orthopaedic testing if required.  This will be followed by the actual treatment that will focus on the dysfunction.

NOTE: You may feel some discomfort during the treatment when the treatment is required to go deep into the muscle.  This discomfort may last up to 48 hours after your treatment.

Muscular and skeletal dysfunctions often addressed with Remedial Massage include:
  • Fibrositis
  • Spondylitis
  • Arthritis
  • Frozen shoulder
  • muscular cramps
  • Whiplash
  • Muscular atrophy
  • Sports and dancing injuries

Cupping is a therapy from traditional Chinese origins.  It can however be used in conjunction with your remedial treatment.  Glass or plastic cups (I use both depending on client's needs) are positioned onto affected muscles or points, the air is removed from the cups either by heat or suction.

This process is not at all painful however you may experience reddening or bruising of the skin due to congestion of blood flow.

Cupping therapy works by lifting the body's connective tissue, loosening any adhesions and restoring blood flow to areas of the body that have been restricted.

It is an excellent treatment for stress, fatigue, aches and pains.  Cupping is used to assist with:-

  • Muscle pain
  • Chronic cough
  • Activate lymph system
  • Stimulate peripheral nervous system
  • Improved blood flow
  • Assist with pain in joints
Check with your health fund as you may be able to claim Health Fund Rebate on Remedial Treatment.

Hot Stone Therapy

Hot stone massage will give a healing improvement to the following conditions: muscular aches, pains, sprains and strains, poor circulation, rheumatic and arthritic conditions, back pain, stress, anxiety and tension, insomnia and depression.

The Stone Massage involves the application of water-heated basalt stones of varying sizes to key points on the body.  It gives a deep massage and creates a sensation of comfort and warmth.  The heat applied to the stone relaxes muscles and allows a greater intensity when massaging.

Deeply relaxing, heat from the basalt stones penetrates through the skin to expand the blood vessels, pushing blood and unwanted waste materials through the body.  This has a sedative effect on the nervous system.  Every cell in the body receives more oxygen and nutrients whilst at the same time waste material is removed more effectively though the corresponding increase in lymph flow.

Stone massage makes you feel deeply relaxed, allowing you to let go of all the stress that is held within your body.
